前回(ぜんかい)の記事(きじ)では、友人(ゆうじん)の誘(さそ)い方(かた)についてでした。 The last blog was about the phrases when you invite your friends. 今日(きょう)は、お友達(ともだち)に会(あ)った時(とき)の挨拶(あいさつ)について! Today, it is about when you meetup the friends. ★元気(げんき)? genki? how are you? / what's up? *Literary, it means are you fine? If you say the end of き longer, it makes much more cheerful sounds. Like genkiiiii? (It gets higher pitch toward the end) ★久(ひさ)しぶり hisashuburi It's been a while ★最近(さいきん)、どうしてた*? saikin, doshite ta? How have you been lately? *This is better to say in the past tense, since you are actually meeting the friend. If you are not with the friend and asking in text or phone, it is the present tense. Which is どうしてる? ★変わってないね! kawatte naine You haven't changed You may want to add きれいだね/kirei dane (you are cute / pretty), 元気そうだね/genki so dane (you look fine!) after. Curtains up! (it's) hoooooooooooooot! ニューヨークにはたくさんのアイスクリーム屋(や)があるので、アイス巡(めぐ)りをするのが楽(たの)しくて溜(た)まりません。 In New York, there are tons of ice cream shops , it's so much fun to go ice cream hop. でも、暑(あつ)い夏(なつ)は、友達(ともだち)と遊(あそ)びに行(い)く機会(きかい)も多(おお)くなる季節(きせつ)ですね~! But while Summer season, you would get more chances to hangout with your friends. そこで、日本語(にほんご)ネイティブの人達(ひとたち)が良(よ)く使(つか)う友達(ともだち)を誘(さそ)うフレーズです! Well, these are the phrases when native Japanese speaker would use when they ask their friends out. *Those phrases are very casual sentences, so you may want to choose whom you are using to. ★今日(きょう)、空(あ)いてる? kyo, aiteru? are you available today? *今日(きょう) can be replaced with time/day/month. [e.g.] 明日(あした)とか、空(あ)いているかな? Do you happen to be available tomorrow? *とか makes sentence softer, which gives the listener to have choices othr than 'tomorrow'. とか literary means 'etc/ and others'. ★このアイスクリームストアに行(い)ってみたいんだけど、一緒(いっしょ)に行(い)かない? kono a-i-su kuri-mu suto-a itte mitai n dakedo, issho ni ikana-i? I am curious to go to this ice cream store, do you want to go together? *みたい means 'want to try out'. It usually follows Te-form.. [e.g.] あそこのケーキ食(た)べてみたいんだけど、 一緒(いっしょ)に行(い)かない? I'm curious about the cake there, do you want to go together ? ★興味(きょうみ)あるかな? kyo-mi aru kana? Are you interested ? Do you have interests? *かな is a question clause that makes the sentence softer. [e.g.] この映画(えいが)が話題(わだい)らしいんだけど、興味(きょうみ)あるかな? I have heard that this movie is popular, are you interested? ★お茶(ちゃ)しに行(い)こう ocha shi ni iko Let's grab a tea (or coffee) [e.g.] ちょっと色々(いろいろ)話(はな)したいし、お茶(ちゃ)しに行(い)こう I want to catch up with you, let's go to grab a coffee. The other day, the train I rode on was the wrapping train like this. 地下鉄(ちかてつ)で、本(ほん)をダウンロードして読書(どくしょ)が出来(でき)るアプリの広告(こうこく)でした。 It was an advertisement about an app for subway library, where you can download a book, and read them. かっこいいラッピングで、一気(いっき)に乗客(じょうきゃく)の目(め)を奪(うば)っていましたよ。 It was so stunning wrapping, and immediately caught passenger's eye. 今日(きょう)は、外見(がいけん)を褒(ほ)める時(とき)の表現(ひょうげん)! Today's expressions are when you make compliments for fashion or looks. ★(その服(ふく)) 似合(にあ)いますね! (son huku) niai masu ne! (The clothing) suites you! if it's for elderly or formal settings, ★そのお召(め)し物(もの)、似合(にあ)われますね! sono omeshimono, ni-a-ware masu ne! お召し物 is honorific version of 服(ふく) or 洋服(ようふく = Literary meaning is Western clothing). ★可愛(かわい)いです kawai-i cute / pretty *it can be used for people, animals and objects as well. [e.g.] 髪型(かみがた)が可愛(かわい)いですね。 your hairstyle is pretty. その靴(くつ)、可愛(かわい)い!! that shoes are cute. (it is same feelings s 'I like your shoes' in English) ★おしゃれです
oshare desu fashionable / good taste [e.g.] 鈴木(すずき)さんは、いつも可愛い服を着ていて、おしゃれですね。 Ms.Suzuki always wear pretty clothing and has a good taste. ★かっこいい kakko-i-i cool / handsome [e.g.] 田中(たなか)くんは、背(せ)が高(たか)くて、かっこいいね! Tanaka, you are tall and handsome! ★素敵(すてき)です suteki-desu pretty / lovely *It can be used for both of males and famals. [e.g.] いつも背筋(せすじ)が伸(の)びていて、素敵(すてき)です。 You are always in a good posture, and that is lovely. 笑顔(えがお)が素敵(すてき)ですね。 Your smile is lovely. それでは、素敵(すてき)な一週間(いっしゅうかん)を! Well then, have a lovely week! It's already a mid Summer ! 先日(せんじつ)、友人(ゆうじん)と海(うみ)へ行(い)ってきました。 The other day, I went to the beach with a friend of mine. でも、行(い)ったのが夕方(ゆうがた)からだったので、ちょっと肌寒(はだざむ)く、 But, it was already an early evening at the time we were at the beach, so it was chilly, 30分(ぷん)で退散(たいさん)してきました(笑) we just stayed there only 30 minutes. lol それでも、大(おお)きな空(そら)と、さざ波(なみ)を聞(き)けて、癒(いや)されました。 Even though, it made me relaxed with the big sky and the sound of waves. 今日(きょう)は、夏(なつ)に使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん)です! ★(暑(あつ)くて) 溶(と)けそう! (Atsukute) toke sou! (because of the heat) I'm like melting ★うだるように暑(あつ)い udaru you ni atsui it's sweltering ★蒸(む)し蒸しする or 蒸(む)し暑(あつ)い mushi mushi suru or mushi atsui it's humid / muggy / sticky hot ★焼(や)けるように暑(あつ)い yakeru yoni atsui it's scorching hot ★夏(なつ)バテする natsu bate suru I'm tired/exhausted from the summer heat 皆(みな)さまも、夏(なつ)バテにならないように!
