パフォーマンスする日本語(にほんご)ワークショップ、終了(しゅうりょう)しましたー!! Performing Japanese Workshop done! 参加(さんか)して下(くだ)さった方(かた)、ありがとうございました! Today, it is about when you meetup the friends. ★元気(げんき)? genki? how are you? / what's up? *Literary, it means are you fine? If you say the end of き longer, it makes much more cheerful sounds. Like genkiiiii? (It gets higher pitch toward the end) ★久(ひさ)しぶり hisashuburi It's been a while ★最近(さいきん)、どうしてた*? saikin, doshite ta? How have you been lately? *This is better to say in the past tense, since you are actually meeting the friend. If you are not with the friend and asking in text or phone, it is the present tense. Which is どうしてる? ★変わってないね! kawatte naine You haven't changed You may want to add きれいだね/kirei dane (you are cute / pretty), 元気そうだね/genki so dane (you look fine!) after. Curtains up! (it's) hoooooooooooooot! ニューヨークにはたくさんのアイスクリーム屋(や)があるので、アイス巡(めぐ)りをするのが楽(たの)しくて溜(た)まりません。 In New York, there are tons of ice cream shops , it's so much fun to go ice cream hop. でも、暑(あつ)い夏(なつ)は、友達(ともだち)と遊(あそ)びに行(い)く機会(きかい)も多(おお)くなる季節(きせつ)ですね~! But while Summer season, you would get more chances to hangout with your friends. そこで、日本語(にほんご)ネイティブの人達(ひとたち)が良(よ)く使(つか)う友達(ともだち)を誘(さそ)うフレーズです! Well, these are the phrases when native Japanese speaker would use when they ask their friends out. *Those phrases are very casual sentences, so you may want to choose whom you are using to. ★今日(きょう)、空(あ)いてる? kyo, aiteru? are you available today? *今日(きょう) can be replaced with time/day/month. [e.g.] 明日(あした)とか、空(あ)いているかな? Do you happen to be available tomorrow? *とか makes sentence softer, which gives the listener to have choices othr than 'tomorrow'. とか literary means 'etc/ and others'. ★このアイスクリームストアに行(い)ってみたいんだけど、一緒(いっしょ)に行(い)かない? kono a-i-su kuri-mu suto-a itte mitai n dakedo, issho ni ikana-i? I am curious to go to this ice cream store, do you want to go together? *みたい means 'want to try out'. It usually follows Te-form.. [e.g.] あそこのケーキ食(た)べてみたいんだけど、 一緒(いっしょ)に行(い)かない? I'm curious about the cake there, do you want to go together ? ★興味(きょうみ)あるかな? kyo-mi aru kana? Are you interested ? Do you have interests? *かな is a question clause that makes the sentence softer. [e.g.] この映画(えいが)が話題(わだい)らしいんだけど、興味(きょうみ)あるかな? I have heard that this movie is popular, are you interested? ★お茶(ちゃ)しに行(い)こう ocha shi ni iko Let's grab a tea (or coffee) [e.g.] ちょっと色々(いろいろ)話(はな)したいし、お茶(ちゃ)しに行(い)こう I want to catch up with you, let's go to grab a coffee. The other day, the train I rode on was the wrapping train like this. 地下鉄(ちかてつ)で、本(ほん)をダウンロードして読書(どくしょ)が出来(でき)るアプリの広告(こうこく)でした。 It was an advertisement about an app for subway library, where you can download a book, and read them. かっこいいラッピングで、一気(いっき)に乗客(じょうきゃく)の目(め)を奪(うば)っていましたよ。 It was so stunning wrapping, and immediately caught passenger's eye. 今日(きょう)は、外見(がいけん)を褒(ほ)める時(とき)の表現(ひょうげん)! Today's expressions are when you make compliments for fashion or looks. ★(その服(ふく)) 似合(にあ)いますね! (son huku) niai masu ne! (The clothing) suites you! if it's for elderly or formal settings, ★そのお召(め)し物(もの)、似合(にあ)われますね! sono omeshimono, ni-a-ware masu ne! お召し物 is honorific version of 服(ふく) or 洋服(ようふく = Literary meaning is Western clothing). ★可愛(かわい)いです kawai-i cute / pretty *it can be used for people, animals and objects as well. [e.g.] 髪型(かみがた)が可愛(かわい)いですね。 your hairstyle is pretty. その靴(くつ)、可愛(かわい)い!! that shoes are cute. (it is same feelings s 'I like your shoes' in English) ★おしゃれです
oshare desu fashionable / good taste [e.g.] 鈴木(すずき)さんは、いつも可愛い服を着ていて、おしゃれですね。 Ms.Suzuki always wear pretty clothing and has a good taste. ★かっこいい kakko-i-i cool / handsome [e.g.] 田中(たなか)くんは、背(せ)が高(たか)くて、かっこいいね! Tanaka, you are tall and handsome! ★素敵(すてき)です suteki-desu pretty / lovely *It can be used for both of males and famals. [e.g.] いつも背筋(せすじ)が伸(の)びていて、素敵(すてき)です。 You are always in a good posture, and that is lovely. 笑顔(えがお)が素敵(すてき)ですね。 Your smile is lovely. それでは、素敵(すてき)な一週間(いっしゅうかん)を! Well then, have a lovely week! It's already a mid Summer ! 先日(せんじつ)、友人(ゆうじん)と海(うみ)へ行(い)ってきました。 The other day, I went to the beach with a friend of mine. でも、行(い)ったのが夕方(ゆうがた)からだったので、ちょっと肌寒(はだざむ)く、 But, it was already an early evening at the time we were at the beach, so it was chilly, 30分(ぷん)で退散(たいさん)してきました(笑) we just stayed there only 30 minutes. lol それでも、大(おお)きな空(そら)と、さざ波(なみ)を聞(き)けて、癒(いや)されました。 Even though, it made me relaxed with the big sky and the sound of waves. 今日(きょう)は、夏(なつ)に使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん)です! ★(暑(あつ)くて) 溶(と)けそう! (Atsukute) toke sou! (because of the heat) I'm like melting ★うだるように暑(あつ)い udaru you ni atsui it's sweltering ★蒸(む)し蒸しする or 蒸(む)し暑(あつ)い mushi mushi suru or mushi atsui it's humid / muggy / sticky hot ★焼(や)けるように暑(あつ)い yakeru yoni atsui it's scorching hot ★夏(なつ)バテする natsu bate suru I'm tired/exhausted from the summer heat 皆(みな)さまも、夏(なつ)バテにならないように! Time flies so fast! 新(あたら)しいプロジェクトの準備(じゅんび)や、今月末(こんげつまつ)のパフォーマンスのリハーサルに追(お)われています。 It's been hectic weeks with preparations for my new projects and the rehearsals for a performance at the end of this month, etc.... 今日(きょう)は、驚(おどろ)いた時(とき)の表現(ひょうげん)です! So today's expression is what you would use when you are surprised! ★ビックリ bikkuri Surprised! [e.g.] むすこ: (電話でんわで)お母(かあ)さん、今日(きょう)、プレゼント届(とど)いたよ。ありがとう! はは: ビックリした? むすこ:うん、ホントにビックリした! SON : (on the phone) Mom, I got the present today! Thank you! MOTHER : Did you get surprised? SON : Yeah, really surprised! ★ うそ!? uso No way! (Literary means 'lie') [e.g.] A: ねーねー、花子(はなこ)ちゃん、ラーメン屋始(はじ)めるらしいよ! B: え!? うそでしょ!? すごいね。 A: Hey, guess what, (I have heard that ) Hanako will start a Ramen restaurant! B: What? No way?! That is incredible. ★驚(おどろ)く / 驚(おどろ)きます orodoku to be surprised (verb) [e.g.] A:驚(おどろ)かないでね。私(わたし)、トニー賞(しょう)にノミネートされたの! B:うそ!?本当(ほんとう)に!? なんで!?どうやって? A: Don't get surprised, OK ? I ...got nominated for the Tony Award! B : No way ! Seriously !? Why !? How ? あら!? ワークショップの告知(こくち)をしていませんでした!ビックリ。 Oh my!? I didn't make announcement for the next workshop! Have a lovely Performance ! 開演かいえん です!素敵すてき なパフォーマンスを! → Japanese Online Lesson Information 昨日(きのう)は、夏(なつ)の様(よう)な天気(てんき)でしたが、 今日(きょう)は、ちょっと肌寒(はだざむ)いです。 It was like a Summer weather yesterday, but it is little chilly today. 言葉(ことば)で、表現(ひょうげん)するって難(むずか)しいですよね。 Isn't it difficult to express with words? ニューヨークで生活(せいかつ)していて、英語(えいご)を使(つか)いますが、 もちろんネイティブではないので、誤(あやま)った文法や、聞(き)き取(と)りづらい発音(はつおん)で話(はな)す事(こと)も多々(たた)あります。 While I spend time in New York, obviously I use English here, but since I am not a native English speaker, I often use wrong grammars or pronounce wrong way. そこで、色(いろ)んな悔(くや)しい思(おも)いをしてきました。 So, I have been through a lot of frustrations. 悔(くや)しい思(おも)いというのは、 私(わたし)がその時(とき)、その場所(ばしょ)で「表現(ひょうげん)したい自分(じぶん)」を、適切(てきせつ)に表(あらわ)せなかった、悔(くや)しい思(おも)いです。 What I meant with 'frustrations' is that; the frustrations where I was not able to express appropriately 'whom I want to present', at the moment, at that place. 「毎日(まいにち)、言葉(ことば)を気(き)を付(つ)けて選(えら)んでも適切(てきせつ)な表現(ひょうげん)を使(つか)えていないのかも・・・ だから、ここでこんなに見下(みくだ)されたり、無視(むし)されたりするのかもしれない。 私(わたし)はそんな人(ひと)じゃないはずなのに!」 "Even how much I carefully choose the expressions to use everyday, maybe I am not able to choose the appropriate ones by my own...." "That could be one of the reasons why people do not treat me in a way I would expect... I am not the person who people think I am made up by how I speak!" These things were sticking to my mind and circling around. 「自分(じぶん)の個性(こせい)をそのままに、この英語(えいご)というツールを学(まな)びたい! 教(おし)えてくれる人(ひと)はいないのだろうか!?」 と、思(おも)ったのが、このパフォーミングジャパニーズの原動力(げんどうりょく)です。 "I want to learn this tool- English- with keeping my character/ myself ! Is there anyone who can teach that way?" It is the motivation for me to do Performing Japanese. あなたが表現(ひょうげん)したい、自分(じぶん)のままに、 日本語(にほんご)で自分(じぶん)らしさを表現(ひょうげん)する。 Whoever you want to express, Express yourself, in Japanese. これが大事(だいじ)です!一番(いちばん)、大切(たいせつ)にして日本語(にほんご)を学(まな)んで欲(ほ)しいです。 This is the most important. It has finally become a weather like showing a hint of early Summer. 先日(せんじつ)、ミス・サイゴンを観劇(かんげき)してきました! The other day, I went to see the Musical Miss Saigon ! このプロダクションを観(み)たのは初(はじ)めてですが、ミス・サイゴンはこれで3回目(かいめ)の観劇(かんげき)。 とても大好(だいす)きなミュージカルです。 It was my first time to see this production version of it, but this was my third time to see this musical. I LOVE this musical! ストーリーを知(し)っていても、涙(なみだ)が止(と)まりませんでした! Even I know the story, my tears could not stop. 今日(きょう)は、感動(かんどう)した時(とき)の表現(ひょうげん)です。 So today, I will introduce when you are touched/moved. ★感動(かんどう)する kando-suru be moved/ touched *This is most neutral way to tell 'be touched'. [e.g.] このミュージカルに感動(かんどう)しました! I was very touched by this musical. ★心(こころ)が動(うご)かされる kokoro ga ugokasareru Lit. = heart was moved. = I was moved [e.g.] 一人(ひとり)の母親(ははおや)が、子どものために闘(たたか)う姿(すがた)に、心(こころ)が動(うご)かされました。 My hears was moved by the mother who fights for her own child. ★心(こころ)を打(う)たれる kokoro o utareru Lit. = Heart was hit (= shocked in a good way) [e.g.] あの迫力(はくりょく)ある歌声(うたごえ)に、心(こころ)打(う)たれました。 My heart was shocked by the powerful singing voice. *You can omit を as well. ★じんとくる jin to kuru Lit. = jin indicates the sound of how your heart was touched. So 'Jin' has come. [e.g.] 母親(ははおや)としての愛(あい)、恋人(こいびと)としての愛(あい)にジンときました。 I was so touched by the love of mother and the love as a lover. ★感銘(かんめい)を受(う)ける kanmei o ukeru be impressed *very sophisticated word [e.g.] ブロードウェイデビューで、あんなに歌(うた)えるとは、感銘(かんめい)を受(う)けました。 That is her Broadway debut and she sings that well... I am so impressed. Curtains up! Have a lovely Performance ! 開演かいえん です!素敵すてき なパフォーマンスを! → Japanese Online Lesson Information あなたの身体(からだ)は、貴方(あなた)が食(た)べる物(もの)で出来(でき)ている。 You are what you eat. 本当(ほんとう)に、身体(からだ)は資本(しほん)と言(い)われるくらい、やりたい事(こと)をやっていく上(うえ)で一番(いちばん)基本的(きほんてき)で、大切(たいせつ)な物(もの)です。 It is truly said that physical (health) is fundamental, is basic important thing. 最近(さいきん)、身体(からだ)を動(うご)かす本番(ほんばん)ばかりが続(つづ)き、 筋肉(きんにく)が疲(つか)れきっていました(笑) Lately, I had lots of shows that required more physical movement, and my mussels got tired. lol そこで、お肉(にく)が無性(むしょう)に食(た)べたくなり、日系(にっけい)スーパーマーケットに行き、薄切(うすぎ)り肉(にく)を買(か)って日本風(にほんふう)焼肉(やきにく)に。かなり満足(まんぞく)しましたー(笑) So, I was really craving for meats and then went to a Japanese supermarket to buy thin sliced beef. Cooked them with Japanese style of BBQ. I (and my mussels are) am very satisfied.lol いつも見(み)ているCNN 10ニュースで、こんなフレーズを紹介(しょうかい)していましたよ! CNN10 News that I watch every day, they were introducing this phrase. CNN10 April 21st 7分(ふん)44秒(びょう)辺(あた)りです It is around 07:44 of the video. ★腹八分 (はらはちぶ) hara hachi bu Lit. you always keep 80% full for your health.( your physic can use the energy to digest 20% for other things. ) [e.g] 腹八分(はらはちぶ)に留(とど)めておく事(こと)は、健康(けんこう)にいい事(こと)です。 Keeping 80% full is a good thing for your health. という事(こと)で、今日(きょう)は健康(けんこう)に関(かん)する「ことわざ」を紹介(しょうかい)! So, I will introduce proverbs/sayings today! ★腹八分目(はらはちぶんめ)に医者(いしゃ)要(い)らず hara hachi bun me ni isha ira zu. Lit. People who keep 80% -full doesn't need any doctors. (They keep their health) ★無沙汰(ぶさた)は無事(ぶじ)の便(たよ)り busata wa buji no tayori. Lit. No letters is a letter to tell they are dong fine. (If you hear nothing, it means they are fine so don't worry about too much) ★寝(ね)る子(こ)は育(そだ)つ neru ko wa sodatsu. Lit. Children who sleep grow up. [e.g.] A: 花子(はなこ)ちゃんは、良(よ)く寝(ね)るね~。 Hanako sleeps so well. B: 寝(ね)る子(こ)は育(そだ)つって言(い)うからね、本当(ほんとう)大(おお)きくなってるわよ。 Yes, like Children who sleep well grow up well, so she IS growing up. Curtains up!
